Probably not a lot to report today. Just writing.
Today, and Writing
Rolled out at 4. I’d really rather get up around 3. Only I think my body’s adjusting to the coming earlier sunrises.
Spent the first few hours working on a website for a friend and resizing covers for another. The website took awhile as it’s still in the old Thesis theme.
Thesis was state-of-the-art a few years ago, and mostly code. I’ve forgotten a lot of that, so a ten-minute job took close to two hours. Ugh.
Finally to the Hovel around 7:30, then back to the house to check on Dean’s stuff, then back out here around 7:50. At 8, after a sputtering start, finally to the novel.
Finished cycling in the first hour (about 300 words), then went to the grocery. That plus lunch took until almost noon. So back to the novel at noon.
By 3 p.m. (including breaks) I had a little over 2500 words and the climax and end were in sight. I hate when that happens. When I know how, where and when it’s gonna end, it becomes like pulling teeth with pliers to get there.
Partly that’s because I’m bored and I want to finish the thing, and partly it’s because I slow down to make sure the ending isn’t “thin,” lacking in depth of sensory detail. The final climax is no place to lose your reader. Ugh.
Then you get into the flow of it and it rushes out. GAWD I love being a writer! (grin)
