The Journal, Sunday, 5/7

Hey Folks,

The rebuild of my life continues with three major updates.

First, my new office is all but finished. It has a much cleaner, more modern look with a drafting table sloped to 27″ to serve as my business area. It holds my business/Internet computer.

The office also has a 27″ high matching typing table (and my writing ‘puter) to serve as my writing area. (Yay!)

My outside desk remains where it was beneath my window so I can work on business or writing if I want to while enjoying a good cigar.

This morning we’ll begin rebuilding my wife’s office. Much of the day will be spent in that endeavor.

Second, my mechanic called last night around 6. I figured he was calling to give me a quote. Well, he did, but he also said he’d just finished working on the Tacoma. (grin) We’ll drive over and pick it up today around noon.

Third, my greatest excitement came in the form of a story idea while I was in the shower.

The idea is strong, one that will involve my love of noir detective/mobster stuff but will not limit itself to that genre. It’s also strong enough to carry me through several short stories and novels.

No doubt we’ll begin seeing those shortly, into June, and beyond. I’m stoked. (grin)

Today, and Writing

Rolled out at 2:40 and started helping the little girl get used to the new office. She isn’t wild about it, but she seems to be warming to the idea.

Wrote the stuff above, and a little after sunrise I got the mower out of the shed and mowed the yard.

8 a.m., I was going to head back to The Storm to take another shot at it, but I got busy with something else. No writing today. A lot of family stuff going on.

I should be back up to speed tomorrow. Bryan calls Job Corps tomorrow, though, so we’ll see what happens with that.

The last few days has been kind of a lesson for me, that it’s all right to let go a little when there’s a lot of other stuff going on.

However, that’s also another way my “numbers” help me with my attitude. I know what I’ve done, so I’m aware of what I can do.

See you tomorrow.
