The Journal, Thursday, 4/6

Hey Folks, Wow. This afternoon around 3 p.m. it will have been only two days since I finished The Pyramid Killer. And already I’m jonesing to get back to writing another story. As I told my wife this morning, I went to the Hovel for a few minutes yesterday, on a task not related to writing. I didn’t even open my writing ‘puter while I was out there. But I did run a hand over it. … Read more

The Journal, Tuesday, 4/4

Hey Folks, Probably not a lot to report today. Just writing. Today, and Writing Rolled out at 4. I’d really rather get up around 3. Only I think my body’s adjusting to the coming earlier sunrises. Spent the first few hours working on a website for a friend and resizing covers for another. The website took awhile as it’s still in the old Thesis theme. Thesis was state-of-the-art a few years ago, and mostly code. I’ve … Read more

The Journal, Monday, 4/3

Hey Folks, Huh. Guess we made it back. Otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this. I played catch up with some email and FB stuff last night, but was too tired to tackle photos from the trip. I’ll do that this morning, then ease my way back into writing The Pyramid Killer. Of course, I’ll begin by cycling back through. Probably I’ll read the first few paragraphs of every chapter to reacquaint myself with the story. Even … Read more

The Journal, Sunday, 4/2

Hey Folks, I’m just gonna kind’a fudge this one for now. Almost completely a placeholder post. I’m sure while we were in the Lower Gila Box Wilderness north of Lordsburg, we slathered philosophy, talked various and sundry topics to death, and took a veritable plethora of photographs. Oh, by the way, “plethora” and “myriad” are not interchangeable. We might have taken “a plethora” of photos, or we might have taken “myriad photos” (but not “a myriad … Read more

The Journal, Saturday, 4/1

Hey Folks, Well, I’m giving it up. I always said if writing weren’t fun, I’d find something else to do. Turns out Dan and I and the grandson have decided to head east from here. We’ll build a tin-roof, two-and-a-half story super bungalow on the Texas plains and take over Hub and Garth McCann’s lives. And the boy. You know. Whatever his name was. Of course, we’ll need a lion, but I’m sure that can be … Read more

The Journal, Friday, 3/31

Hey Folks, Wow. One day left in March. Just today. It went by so fast! By the time you read this, my buddy, my grandson and I will be doing little or nothing in one of the more beautiful spots on Earth, about 500 feet above the Gila River about 20 miles north/northeast of Lordsburg NM. Back on Monday, April 3. Topic: Indy Publishing Company/Imprint For this topic, just in case anyone needs it, I’m basically … Read more

The Journal, Thursday, 3/30

Hey Folks, Well, planning, right? I have today left to finish the novel if I’m gonna finish it this month. I was even thinking if I felt like the end was really close, I could take my computer with me. That way I’d have whatever’s left of tomorrow too after we travel to the campsite. You know, Justin Case. But planning is important. And priorities. Priorities are important. Today I have to head to the grocery … Read more

The Journal, Monday, 3/27

Hey Folks, Dean has begun a series of posts on copyright. I’m not personally wild about the analogy he uses, but there should be a ton of good information there over the next several days. * * * I said I would update you regarding my experience with Cover to Upload. Kathy did an excellent job, put up with my requirements and changes, was very quick to respond, and even uploaded the thing to CreateSpace for … Read more

The Journal, Sunday, 3/26

Hey Folks, Good ol’ Verizon woke me up at 1:03 a.m. with a text message. When the tone went off, naturally I thought there was some sort of family emergency. Uh, no. Verizon wanted to inform me that I had “only” 25% of my data left with 2 days remaining in a 30-day cycle. Seriously. How do they not know 25% data should last 7.5 days in a 30 day cycle? Yeah, I know it was … Read more

The Journal, Saturday, 3/25

Hey Folks, Not a lot in this post today, so you get a brief reprieve. (grin) Today, and Writing Rolled out at 3:30 after waking at 1, 2, 2:30 and 3. I mostly did nothing for the first hour, then kind of put myself on hold, hovering, waiting for DWS’ new post. Finally to the Hovel around 6:40. Around 7:15 I started reading over the story again. It’s only around 8000 words, and I like it. … Read more
